The Senator representing Lagos East, Distinguished Senator Tokunbo Abiru has pledged support for the Zumratul Islamiyyah Smart Primary School, a 30 – classroom project which is initiated by Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun led administration in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The project, when completed will provide pupils with a modern learning environment, was flagged off about a month ago.
Sen. Abiru made the pledge during the tour of the educational facility of the IBLCDA and the Alternative School for Girls in Offin, which is an initiative of Chief (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady, which he (Sen Abiru) facilitated.
The Senator in his remarks, highlighted the wider significance of the smart school initiative.
He noted that the initiative aligns with federal government initiatives on school digitalisation and strengthening teacher development and educational infrastructure across the country. The Senator pledged to support the smart school through his Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL Lab).
At the Alternative School for Girls, Senator Abiru explained that the initiative is designed to give women and girls who could not complete their education due to unforeseen circumstances or financial hardship a second chance. The school will combine academic instruction with vocational training.
He commended Mrs Oluremi Tinubu’s longstanding advocacy for the rights and welfare of women and children.
Chairman Aroyewun expressed profound appreciation to Senator Abiru for facilitating the project.
Speaking at the tour of his smart school initiative, he described the project as a strategic investment in the future of Igbogbo/Baiyeku, stressing the importance of “catching them young” by giving children quality education and strong values from an early age.
He also commended Senator Abiru for his role in the realisation of the project.
In his royal remarks, HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali, also thanked the First Lady and the Lagos State Government for providing the land on which the school is being developed.
The royal father commended the state government for its continued investment in Igbogbo/Baiyeku. He described both projects as evidence of a sustained commitment to improving educational outcomes and community welfare within the council area.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful completion of both projects.
